J-Rock concert @ Knitting Factory
Current mood: bouncy

Benten Tokyo presents:
Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re, The Rodeo Carburettor, The Emeralds, Stance Punks, PE'Z, Ellegarden
7:30pm @ NYC Knitting Factory
Gary, Tao, Anthony and I went to the Knitting Factory last night. Prior to the Knitting Factory we had gone to the Hamachi (Japanese Resturant) next to No Idea. As always the food was yummy. Tao and I had to shared a Torikatsudon. The unlimited refills of Green Tea was awesome.

Gary suggested we take a cab to the KF after the resturant. If you can believe it, I haven't been on a NYC yellow cab since I was a baby. Went to the ATM took out cash and got the cab. We got there late but we really didn't miss out. We came in while The Emeralds were on. They were pretty cool. Too bad I didn't see them earlier. Most of the bands on there were punk. I am not really a punk fan, I am just an avid ELLEGARDEN fan. lol

I took my mother's camera because it takes video w/ audio. I didn't get a chance to ask her, so she wasn't happy when it was missing. Bad karma was on me, and I somehow "lost" many of the pictures. These are the only ones that remain... Stance Punks. It was difficult to take images there. I feel badly for Tao because she tried so hard to take them. I'm sorry hun. :(

Well, I didn't particularly care for Stance Punks. I've heard there stuff before and didn't really care. The only song I wanted to hear was from Naruto, "No Boy, No Cry." Yes, they played it, and it was cool. Unfortunately, Ant and I thought that all their stuff sounded like 'No Boy, No Cry.' The guitarist had cool spikey hair <3. The singer was super wasted. Somehow he was able to remember his words and sing without getting too hurt. He was fun to watch that's for sure. He must have hit himself in the face like 30 times. At one point he said "I don't speak English...... but I LOVE ROCK N ROLL!! Wooooo~!" That was great. lmfao Though I didn't like them, they somehow got a fan body surfing. lol

ELLEGARDEN played afterwards. They just rocked. The crowd was soo loud for them. I think many people came mostly for them. I lost my ELLEGARDEN pics so I will put this pic instead.

The singer is so cute. Oh no! I'm a fangirl! lmfao

I knew that Takeshi sang profiently in English. CJ and I wondered if he spoke English.. well the answer is YES! He is fluent in English, and most kind. During the sound check Takeshi played Weezer's "Sweater Song." He's a huge Weezer fan. People sang along to ELLEGARDEN's "Jitter Bug", "Super Nova" and other songs. One fan even asked them to sing a random song of theirs. Takeshi said "Wow. I am just wondering how do you know us? This is our first time here!" He was quiet flattered. "I am happy that we are here in New York playing, but sad that we have to go." Yeah I am sad too man. Hope you come back.

PE'Z played after ELLEGARDEN. PE'Z calls themselves "Samurai Jazz." They are not bad, and were interesting. The coolest part of the concert were the bands themselves. They were on the upper level with us either watching the show, or conversing with fans. It was cool standing next to Stance Punks drummer, or whatever. The Emeralds drummer even changed his clothes on that upper level. haha

It was pretty late, and the Mr. was in the corner out, so I figured we'd go. On the way out we found the merchandise corner. I bought an ELLEGARDEN t-shirt, a Japan Night Tour shirt, and a  Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re CD for CJ. Gary got me ELLEGARDEN's US release of "Riot on the Grill" I freaked out when I was purchasing my stuff. The money I withdrew from the ATM was missing. I searched and searched but couldn't find the cash! I ended up purchasing the items on my card. When I stepped out I somehow found the cash in a pocket. Boy did I feel like an ass. Glad that I found it though. Hopefully I will have the privilege to watch these bands again.

*Update* 04.17.06
Since the show, I met a new Ellegarden fan- Shortieee. She "recognized me" from the show and found me here. Glad to see that there are more Ellegarden fans here. I <3 them soo much. Unfortunately I still haven't found pics from the show. I did however find video from the show....

Just a sample of Takeshi speaking in English... the rest is fuzzy.. You can hear Shortieee scream "TAKESHI!!!!!!! AISHITERU!!!!" haha.
